We all take life very seriously. And we are so much worried about our future that we forget to live in the present. Sometimes we dwell over our past and make ourselves worried by guessing the outcome of the future.
Worry takes hold of our life slowly and steadily. It is a demon that changes our view from glass half full to glass half empty. Billionaire and beggar both are aware of it. Worry vague the positivity in our mind. Fear, anxiety and obnoxious thinking brews up. It drains one’s physical and mental energy and diverts it into the ocean of negativity. And before you know, you would have taken the step that plunge you into bigger troubles.
Keep aside your worries for a minute and let me tell you this interesting story…
Somewhere in the outskirts of village called Worryville, two school-going friends got a crazy idea.
They went to one of their neighbour’s farm and rounded up with his three goats. On their sides they painted the number 1, 2 and 4. In the night, when villagers were asleep, they untethered the goats and lose them into the village’s post office building. Next day, when the authorities entered the building, they noticed something fishy. On the stairs, near the doors of their offices and inside the compound they saw goat droppings. Suddenly they realized that some goats might have strayed into the building during night. They were successful in locating the three goats after few hours of searching.
The villagers saw the numbers 1, 2 and 4 on the three goats. Within a moment they started worrying about the missing goat number 3. For the whole day, they close off their offices and started hunting for the missing goat. Staffs, peons, villagers and children spent their whole day to look for it.
When the day ended, they stopped their search and returned back to their home thinking that the goat number 3 might have wandered off to the nearby village unknowingly. Even the subject of conversation during their leisure time – the time when villagers gathered in the common ground – was the missing goat number 3.
In our story, villagers never found the missing goat. Simply…because the goat number 3 never existed.
In spite of having a good life, we are consistently worried about the missing goat. We are aware that it is an illusion and it is non-existent. For us, the absence of something is always higher than the presence of other things. May it be politics, corruption, unemployment, debauchery, poverty or any other things, we repeatedly do complaints with each other.
So friends, let us cultivate this new thinking and stop worrying about the missing goat number 3. We should appreciate what is with us instead of mourning for what is not with us. Maybe our resources are limited but not our willpower and perseverance. Instead of whining over our problems, let us join our hands together to work for the betterment of our society, our country and our people.
Let us make the difference! We at MYO can do it!
